What it is
Signup Flow CRO is a marketing skill for reducing friction in registration flows. Its core principle is that every field reduces conversion, so for each field the skill asks: do we absolutely need this before they can use the product, can we collect it later through progressive profiling, or can we infer it from other data? Essential fields are email and password; name is often needed; company, role, team size, and phone are usually deferrable. The skill provides field-by-field optimization guidance. For passwords, it recommends show-password toggles, upfront requirement display, strength meters instead of rigid rules, allowing paste, and considering passwordless options. For social auth, it advises placing options prominently with B2C apps favoring Google, Apple, and Facebook while B2B apps favor Google, Microsoft, and SSO. A decision framework for single-step versus multi-step flows considers field count, product complexity, and visitor intent. Trust and friction reduction covers form-level elements ("No credit card required," privacy notes, testimonials near the form), error handling (inline validation, specific messages, never clearing the form on error), and microcopy best practices. The mobile optimization section addresses larger touch targets, appropriate keyboard types, autofill support, and single-column layouts. Post-submit guidance covers confirmation states, email verification strategies (consider delaying verification until necessary), and re-engagement for stalled verifications.
