What it is
Value Proposition Statements is a product growth skill that transforms existing value propositions into segment-specific messaging for three contexts: marketing copy, sales presentations, and customer onboarding. Each statement directly addresses a specific target market segment, emphasizes the primary benefit and desired outcome, and highlights the key features that make the promise possible. The skill includes a concrete example using Canva: for social media marketers, it emphasizes creating on-brand designs effortlessly without expensive software; for small business owners, it highlights launching polished campaigns in minutes with drag-and-drop templates; for content creators, it focuses on spending less time on design logistics and more on storytelling and audience engagement. For best results, the skill needs existing value propositions or key benefits, target segment definitions with their pain points, product features and differentiators, distribution channel context, and brand tone guidelines. It is designed to work downstream from the value-proposition skill which creates the foundational value prop. Together they form a workflow: define the value proposition first, then generate actionable statements for each segment and channel.
